Juxtapositions

Lorein mentioned how our NYC trip brought back memories of our trip three years ago, which is ironic because there's so many differences. First, and most obvious, we're married now and we weren't even dating then (although it was the blossoming of our romance). Second, it was a freezing January three years ago, but a muggy June now. And probably the biggest contrast . . . we stayed in my friend's one-bedroom apartment in the South Bronx then (Lorein slept in the family room with the snoring Dominican babysitter), while this time our accommodations were a room at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park looking out on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Lorein said she really liked The Ritz, and I don't remember her saying that about the Bronx.
